PRESENTATIONS.

In view of her approaching marriage, Miss Standish, of Ash burton, who has been connected with St Stephen's Sunclay School for several years, was presented v, ith a case of solid silver teaspoons and a silver paper knife by tho Rev E. Whitehouse, on behalf or the pupils of the upper classes. At the Elgin schoolroom on Thursday evening Mrs Ada Smith was presented with an overmantel by the residents of the district prior to her departure for Ashburton. For a number of years Mlfe Smith has been postmistress at Elgin. Miss M'lver, who has been in charge of the Carew School for tho past two years, and has recently been appointed to the Lowcliffo School, was entertained by the residents of the district at Mrs R. S. Sim's residence on February G. The chairman of tho committee, Mr R. S. Sim, referred to Miss M'lver's excellent qualifications as a teacher, saying that the children under her charge had made splendid progress, and tho parents, while regretting her decision to leave the district, were pleased to hear of her promotion. On behalf of the committee and residents Mr Sim presented Miss M'lver with a travelling bag and lady's companion. Other speakers referred in complimentary terms to Miss M'lver's work. A programme of music, recitations and songs was given.
