HANMER SPRINGS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l happened to glance over art old file of your paper of Novembers, and across the letter sigued "Live and Let Live." What the writer 6ays in regard to rents and prices of foodstuffs" is inclined to be below rathefl than above the absolute prices. As for rents, they are simply ridiculqus in comparison with wages, so much so, in fact, that some of the Government employees with their wives and families, have had to resort to the old moda of home and give up the idea of housekeeping in any other form but under canvas. Can you imagine, in the winter, when there is snow inches deep on the ground, small children wandering out, not from an enjoyment point of view,' but because there is no room for them in the tents? Then, again, everything seems at sixes and sevens as regards the business portion of Hanmer.—l am, etc., A WELL-WISHER.
