United Press Association—By Bleotrio Telegraph—Copyright (Received July 23, 11.38 p.m.) LONDON, July 23. .Router's San Francisco correspondent states that the small steamer San Pedro, laden with lumber, collided at midnight on,Saturday off Eureka, in a heavy fog, with the steamer Columbia, of 2700 tons, carrying numerous San Francisco passengers. The San Pedro struck the port bow, tearing an immense hole in the Columbia. The passengers hurried" on deck, where a wild panic ensued. Tha Columbia sank in five minutes. A |ife-raft was launched, and a few. Eight were saved by clinging to the San Pedro.
