BOROUGH COUNCILS.

KATAPOL A meeting of the Kaiapoi Borough Council was held on Tuesday evening: present —The Mayor (Mr J. H. Blackwell), and Councillors Parnham, Pearce, Keetley, Bugg, Sullivan, Hayman and Knox. Tho Colonial Secretary wrote stating that it was* no use attempting to constitute Kaiapoi a Fire Board District until the Act has been amended this session. An. extension of time was allowed for the Lighting Committee to report. Tho surveyor's report was read and adopted. It was- reported that the receipts since the last meeting amounted to £144 Os 3d. The debit balance stood at £229 5s 2d. Accounts for £l7 Os Id wore passed for payment.
