Lead.—£l9 17s 6d per ton. Tallow.—At the tallow sales 742 casks were offered and 650 casks sold; mutton, fine, 36s per cwt; medium, 335;, beef, fine, 34s 3d; medium, 32s 6d. SYDNEY, October 25. The week’s wool sales closed firm, with an active demand for all better classes. Greasy sold to 133 d, scoured to 23Jd. MELBOURNE, October 25. Hides are firm at late rates. The Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company, London, to-day cabled the following report on the frozen” meat market“ Canterbury mutton, 4d; Napier, Wellington, North Island, 3Jd. Lamb, first quality 4£d; second quality 4Jd. Beef, hindquarters 3£d; forequarters 2|d.” (The Colonial Consignment and Distributing, Company’s last week’s report was as follows:—“Canterbury mutton, 3jd; Napier, Wellington and North Island, 33d. Lamb, ffirst quality 43d, second quality 4Jd. Beef, hindquarters 33d, forequarters 2|d.”)

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, has received the following cable measapre from its London house, under date October 24 : —Tallow—We quote present spot values for the following descriptions of tallow: Fine mutton 35s 6d per cwt, good beef 33s 9d, mixed 31s 9d. The market is firm.
