ROAD BOARDS .

RICCARTON. , . A meeting of the Riccarton Road Board was held on October 8, all the members being present. The surveyor’s report was approved. It was decided to postpone the removal of the shingle bais in bottom of Kaputone Creek untii summer, when the creek would be dry. Tenders were ordered to be called for reforming portion of Wooldridge Road and for forming Burnside Road. The dork reported that at the conference with Mr Witty, M.H.R., respecting the exchange of Reserve 93a and the Wairarapa River bed for- other lands for a cemetery and gravel pits, nothing definite had been arrived.at. The chairman and clerk had waited upon the County Council in support of the Board’s protest to the Council’* proposal to pass a Special Order vesting portions of the Boundary Road between the Riccarton and Templeton Districts in the Riccarton Board, and the remainder in the Templeton'BoardMr Hansen gave notice that at, the next meeting he will move “That all resolutions dealing with the maintenance of boundary roads between , the Riccarton and Templeton Districts be rescinded, and that notice be sent to the Templeton Board to that effect.” The City Council wrote in reference to a proposal to reopen the pound at Papanui, stating that the Council had set up a Special Committee to consider the question. Mr A. Fairbairn’s offer to lease to the Board the pound at Papanui at a rental of £1 per annum, and also offering to act as poundkeeper, was Mr H. O. Cox’s offer to grub gome in the gravel pit section, Belfast, for the use of land was accepted. , MOUNT PEEL. The Mount Peel Roard Board met on October 19; present—rMessre Tripp (in the chair), Hansdon and Harris. The overseer reported that the Pairlie gang had been engaged in reforming the Spur Road and repairing .the Hitcher Road. An extra team was engaged in shingling the weak portion of the Mount-Peel Road. He suggested that filling ruts in the Boundary Road should be the next work taken in hand. The report was adopted. Residents in the Cattle Valley asked the Board to replace the planks over the Cattle Valley Creek. The overseer was instructed to endeavour to have the work done. A circular was received from the secretary of the Seddon Memorial Technical College Fund, asking for the Board’s 00-operation. The overseer was instructed to try and arrange for the shingling of Grant’s Road. Accounts amounting to £77 18s 4d were passed for payment. ,
