OBITUARY.

Mrs Houston, an old resident of Askburton, died at Allenton on Friday evening. The deceased, with her husband, settled in the Ashburton district iu 1873. Mrs Houston was seventyeight years of ago. Another old resident of the Ashburton County died on Saturday morning in Hr Thomas Richardson, aged seven-ty-six years. Ho arrived in the colony in 1860, and for some years held land in the North Canterbury district. In 1878 he came to the Ashburton County, and farmed at Seafield. During the last six or seven years he lived m retirement at Allenton. He leaves a widow and a family of four. An old identity, Mr Thomas Castle, died recently after a residence in the colony of sixty-four years. Ho left Gravesend, England, on May 26, 1842, by the ship Thomas Harrison, a vessel of 400 tons, and arrived at Kelson on October 25, a passage extending over 152 days.
