Dredging' returns.—‘Golden Bun 90oz, Golden Treasure 230 z 16dwt, Golden Gate 13oz ifidwt, Nelson Creek 19oz. During the week ended to-day returns were reported from thirty-five dredges, the total gold yield being 3730 z 15dwt 2gr, or an average of 270 z per dredge. Additional returns —i Tvnimumu Queen 20oz ISdwt, ■'Woikaka 260 z ISdwt, Royal Waimuznu 340 z, Dock Lomond 16oz lOdwt, Tnniwha 9oz 14dwt. . THE PRICE OF-GOLD. . . [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, December 18. The Otago and Southland Gold-mining, Industrial Union of Employers instructed its secretary a few weeks ago to issue a circular to all the mining companies .in _ the _ South Island, with a view, to ascertaining if they were prepared to support a trust or syndicate proposed to be formed for-dealing with gold by purchase, advance or otherwise. One ,of the conditions is that the companies should give a guarantee of a penny per ounce for a term of years, in the event of the banks reducing their charges. A number of companies have already , responded], all being favourable. It is hoped that all replies will bo to hand in a month, and that an advance in the price of gold will then he brought about.
