FATAL ACCIDENT AT A CIRCUS. United Tress Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, December 16. The fall of a pole at Wirth’s Circus killed the little daughter of Mr Dunstan, a clergyman, and injured several other people. RUN DOWN BY A TRAM. A MOTOR-CYCLIST IN TROUBLE. An accident occurred on the Addington tram-line yesterday morning, shortly after ten o’clock, by which Mr C. E. St; John, a dentist, who resides at Kaiapoi, and Miss L. Turnbull, daughter,of Mr J. Turnbull, bailiff at the Magistrate’s Court, were severely injured. Mr St John was riding a motor-cycle, with a trailer attached, in which Miss Turnbull was seated, and appears to have been travelling " along Montreal Street northwards at a rapid pace. A witness of the accident stated that as the motor-cycle reached the corner of Moor bouse Avenue a steam tram was approaching. Mr St John was apparently going too fast to pull up or to turn off in front of the tram, and adopted the. only course of endeavouring to cross the tram-line. The enginedriver saw the danger, and applied his brake, but just as the motor-cycle reached the tram-line the engine crashed into it. The cyclist and his companion were hurled to the ground and pushed along for a distance of some yards before the tram could be stopped. The driver and conductor, with other witnesses of the accident, went to their assistance, and found them both unconThey were removed to the hospital, where it was found that lilies Turnbull had sustained a broken hip, besides being cut, and bruised, and Mr St John was suffering from cuts and bruises, shock, concussion of the spine, and a scalp wound. Last evening he was progressing very satisfactorily. Miss Turnbull, late last night, was making as good progress as could be expected.

SUPPOSED SUICIDE AT RICHMOND.

The body of a middle-aged man, well dressed, was found late last night on the rivertiank near Swann’s Road, Richmond, with a bullet wound in the head. Constable Flewellen was at once communicated with, and he removed the body to. the Morgue. There -was no money on the deceased, but a revolver lay beside him, and it is supposed that the case was on© of suicide. The body has not been identified, but the man’s name is supposed to be Lawson.
