The Timaru Pigeon Plying Club bold a lace on Saturday, from Napier to Timaru, 441 miles. Nine members sent seventeen birds, which were liberated at ten minutes past five, by Mr Moeller, of Napier. The weather being favourable, it ’was expected that a good fly would bo put up, and this surmise proved correct, for Mr J. Auld’s two birds arrived home at 4 o’clock (the only ones to arrive), having accomplished the journey in lOhr 50min, which gives an average velocity of 1194yds per minute. This performance is one of the best that has been put up by any New Zeeland club in a oneday fly, and compares with the splendid fly put up by Mr Auld's bird two years ago from Hicks’ Bay, 605 miles, in 17ihr. On Thursday last the club also flew a race from Clinton, 160 miles, for a trophy given by the club. The weather being favourable, a good performance was put up, the winner doing the journey in 3hr 46min. The velocities of the first four birds were:—Mr C. Tomlinson’s, 1253yds; Mr Clayton’s, 1252.3; Mr K. May’s, 1143.6 Mr J. Berry’s, 1008. J. Tomlinson, A. Burford and T. . Malcolmson also timed in their birds.-
