A BAND CONTEST.
[Pep. Pbess Association.] WANGANUI, October 25. Regarding a Press Association message from Blenheim, in which it was stated that Mr Crichton, tho Wanganui conductor, had at tho recent band contest given a private judgment in favour of the Blenheim Band, Mr Crichton emphatically denies the statement. As a matter of fact, he gave no “ judgment ” at all. All !;o did was as an interested visitor, to carefully watch the playing of the competing hands, and to note down privately his opinion of their respective performances. Curiously enough, as he stated at tho smoke concert held at tho conclusion of the contest, his notes showed that ho had placed th© bands in exactly the same positions as tho judge, the only difference being a slight variation in the number of marks allotted to th© different bands.
