AN APPEAL. United Press Association —By Bleeiirio Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, October 23. Th© swimmer Billington has been declared a professional. He has appealed against tho decision. A general meeting of the Southbridg© Swimming Club was held in th© library on October 20. Thor© was a 'good attendance of members, and Mr W. Soott (vice-president) occupied the chair. Correspondence was read from Dr Withers, resigning his position as president of the club, but it wals decided that he should be naked to reconsider _ his decision. Mr M. Riordan’s resignation aa captain and member of the club was received with regret. It was decided to pay the £2 bonus under protest to the Town Board. Mr G. Hill was elected captain for the ensuing : season.
