AQUATIC.

ROWING ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Centra! of the ■ New Zealand ’ Rowing Association was held last night, Mr J. R. Morrison (president) and eleven members being present. The eighteenth annual report, to be presented at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Association at Wellington on October 28, was discussed. The order paper was read, and it was decided to nominate Mr Coffey as delegate on the Council. * A letter was received from the Akaroa Boating Club, stating that it would be willing to hold the championship regatta either oh" December 16 or 26. It was decided to withhold any suggestion regarding the date of the regatta, members expressing the opinion that - the dates named being at the beginning of the season, would not give a fair indication of what might really bo the best teams. It was decided to recommend the Association to give to champions caps, badges and coat®. It was resolved ,to ask the Association to detail the amounts received in subscriptions from the various clubs. The engineer to the Drainage Board, stated that the Board would be pleased to receive a deputation in reference to, the river Avon at its meeting on No-' y ember 21. Mr Kesteven said that the' Drainage Board had been very oourte-i ous in the matter. It had agreed to: remove a mud spit near the bridge,’ so that racing under the bridge would be possible. The Board had also suggested that the Association should, appoint three members to act os a kind of River Board in conjunction with it. Anything that was required would bo promptly looked into. It was resolved: that Messrs Morrison, Kesteven, Smith and Samuels should act as a River | Committee, which could advise the deputation to the Board, but should nob take action until after the deputation had interviewed the Board. The Lyttelton Regatta Committee asked that the Association’ should receive a deputation to discuss Lyttelton regatta matters and endeavour to come toTan amicable arrangement regarding the breach between the committee and the Association over racing matters at the last regatta. It was decided to receive the deputation at a special meeting to be ndd next Wednesday night. The Canterbury Rowing dub has decided to row the heats and finals *of the President’s Fours and Pair-oar Races in the vicinity of the sheds, and not at Kerr’s Reach, as was thought probable. The first beat of the Fours (Thornton v. Evans) and the second heat (Kent v. 0. H. Hobbs), also three heats of the Pair-oar Race (Sandall v- * Willoox, Wallace v. Mackay and Fitch' v. Dougall), will bo rowed this evening. To-morrow evening the third and fourth heats of the Fours will be rowed, viz., Tucker v. H. B. Hobbs, and E. R. Guthrie v. J. S. Guthrie; also the fourth and fifth heats of the Pair-oar Race, namely, Hamilton v. Thomas, and Reece v. Griffon. On Saturday afternoon the finals of both races will be derided, and afternoon tea for members and their friends rill be dispensed in the club-house.
