He moved that, in order to advance the interests of the proposed sanitorium, the Mayor of Christchurch should he asked to call a meeting of the Christchurch Bub-Committee, to organise the movement for collecting subscriptions. The motion , was seconded by Dr Jennings and carried. Mr Harrell said that South Canterbury seemed to be very dilatory. He thought that they should .advocate a purely North Canterbury movement. Dr Jennings agreed with Mr Harrell. Unless there was a good deal more enthusiasm taken in the movement by the Executive Committee the scheme would not succeed. (Hear, hear.) Dr Finch said the movement wgß not depending on Tirnaru, which could come in if it liked. North Canterbury wars big enough to provide and equip its own sanitorium. * Dr Finch moved that a definite statement should be drawn up and inserted under the. heading of the committee’s first subscription list, setting forth the aims and objects of the movement, and informing the public of the probable cost and maintenance, and of the Government subsidy, and also that the Hospital Board would take over the maintenance of the sanitorium. Drs Jennings and Finch and the secretary were deputed to draw up the statement. Votes of thanks were passed' to Drs Finch and Jennings for attending various country meetings. ■
