HOCKEY.
The Management Committee of the New Zealand Hockey Association met last evening; present—Messrs W. G. Garrard (in the chair), T. Smith, C. W. Garrard, G. W. 0. Smithson, H. W. Kellyor and E. Nordon (honorary secretary). Voluminous correspondence was read in reference to the case of a player who had- been a member of a team which had represented the Wanganui Club in a linal match with the Trinity Young Men’s Institute. It appeared that the Institute had protested against the player’s inclusion in the opposing team, on the grounds' that be had not the requisite residential qualification, and it had, therefore, claimed the match. The question was discussed at the previous meeting of the Management Committee, and the members agreed that the appeal should not bo upheld, basing their decision on information that the player’s name had been sent to the Wanganui Association, and that, as he had received no notice that he was not eligible to play in the game in dispute, the inference was that he was qualified to take part in the match. Yesterday, however, a letter "was received from Mr R. V. King, stating that ho had been secretary of the Wanganui Association at the time that the player had made his application. and that ho had refused to give him’ a pertnit. It was also reported that the Wanganui Association had upheld the Institute’s appeal. The committee resolved to write to Wanganui for further information on the subject
