SATURDAY'S MATCHES. At South Park the Avon Club played a match between teams selected by J. 1:1. Armstrong and H. Sutton, which resulted in a win for the latter by four goals to three. The members showed very promising form. The goals were scored by H. Hale 1, J. Hamilton 3, S. Smith 2, P. Smith 1. The annual general mooting of the Avon Hockey Club was hold in the City Hall on March 24, Mr H. Luxton in the chair. The report and balancesheet were read and adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —President, Mr F. A. Hornibrook; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Bosomworth, J. Burgess and J. Perkins; club captain, Mr H. Luxton; vice-captain, Mr E. A. O'Brien; secretary, Air J. H. Armstrong; general committee, Messrs G. Miller, H. Bluett, J. Hamilton, W. Templeton and S. Smith; delegates to the Canterbury Hockey Association, Messrs J. H. Armstrong and H. Luxton. A meeting of the Kawarau Ladies' Hockey Club was held last week in Miss Grafton's tea rooms, for the purpose of electing officers and members. It was decided that the club's colours should be blue and white. Mr G. E. Good was elected president, Miss M. Robinson captain, Miss E. Miles secretary, and Miss E. Blank treasurer. The opening day was fixed for April 13. The ninth annual meeting of the Ashburton Hockey Club was held on Wednesday evening, when the report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr C. Reid; president, Mr F. Mainwaring; vice-presidents, Messrs F. Clark, T. M. Morlssey, W. J. Silcock, H. A. Humphries, N. Fitzgerald and W. J. Moore ; secretary and treasurer, Mr L. G. M'Donald; captain, Mr B. Cutler; sub-captain, Mr A. Silcock; committee, Messrs L. F. Andrews, W. Silcock, ~W. Rowan, F. Watt, W. Tucker, W. 'Hendry, and A. Claridge; delegate to Ashburton Sports Association, Mr L. G. M'Donald; Selection Committee, captain, sub-captain and secretary. It was decided to hold the opening match of the season on April 6~
