BURGLARY AT HORNBY.

A SAFE EXPLODED. Mr H. Arnold, stationmaster at Hornby, telephoned to Christchurch yesterday morning stating that the safe in his office had been exploded, and that its valuable contents had been stolen, comprising the station and post office cash, and £9, and a presentation gold chain belonging to Mr Arnold. 'The short facts of the case are tha' ►Mr Arnold left the station at eleven o : clock on Saturday evening, aftei locking the premises. When he visited his office, before nine o'clock yes terday morning, he found that a win dow had been prised open, and a robbery had been committed. _ The burglar used dynamite or gelignite to blow the safe open, and mado hi: escape with the plunder. Several detectives went out to Hornby to investigate the robbery.
