The total births in the four chief boroughs Amounted to 433, as against 519 in January, a decrease of 81. The deaths in February were 147, a decrease of 50 on the number in January. Of the total deaths, males contributed 83 and females 61. Thirty-six of the deaths were of children under five years of acre, being 21.49 per cent of the whole number; 9S- of these were under one year of age. There were 42 deaths of persons of 65 years of ago and upwards; seven men, 6G. 67. 72 (two). 74. 77, 88. and four women, 65 (two), 71, 89, died at Auckland; five men, 67. 72, 75, 73, 84, and five women, 63 (two), 69, 79. 89. at Wellington; six men, 66. 63, 71. 74 (two). 90, and two women. 6S 80, at Christchurch; and eight men. 65. 6.9. 74. 7? (two), 81 (two). 89. and five women, 66, 70, 74, 78, 80, at Dunedin.
