LAND BOARD

The Canterbury Land Board met on Thursday; present—. Messrs T. Humphries (Commissioner of Crown Lands), A. C. Pringle, J. Seniy, J. Allan and ■T. Stevenson. Tn regard to the application for the transfer of Pastoral Run No. 238, Reserve 1855, from H. Nicholls to the White Rock Company, it was decided to inform the latter that the Governor would be recommended to grant it a three years’ license unless it was prepared to take a lease of the land from year to year. The Crown Lands rangers’ reports on holdings in tho Kapua. Meikle’s Creek and Rainclilf Settlements were accepted as satisfactory. Reports in reference to the Waikakahi settlement wore similarly regarded in the cases of those who had complied with the regulations. Reports on in the Mead and Otaio settlements were regarded as satisfactory, except in the case of T. M’George, in the fornler area, and W. Stair and F. Stowell, in the latter. It was decided to caution M. Lawlor (Orakipaoa) and L. C. Kerr and T. Matthews (Rosebrook) against excessive cropping. In connection with Pastoral Run No. 22, Rakaia River, P. C. Threlkeld, it was resolved to enforce a penalty of 10s for non-payment of rent at the due date, and in respect of Pastoral Run No. 76, Tekapo, E. Schlaepfer, a penalty of £1 was imposed for a similar reason. A large quantity of ' ordimo-ry business was done.
