ATHLETIC.

A foot race took place at Ashburtoa on Wednesday evening, between teams repreeentiug the Hakatere and Southern Cross football clubs respectively, eventuating ,in a win for the Southern Cross team. . A meeting of tho Temuka District High School Committee was held on Tuesday evening; present—Messrs H. M. Miles (chairman), Saunders, G. W. Armitage, G. Thomson, J. H. Anderson, W. H. Brown, E. B. Cooper and D. M'lnnes. The headmaster's report showed a roll of 371, with an average of 336. The number of High School pupils was 56. It was decided to write to the Education Board and tho menibar for the district, with regard to extra accommodation. The inspector's report was read, and was considered highly satisfactory. Accounts amounting to £9 9s 3d were passed for payment.
