Writing from Dublin under date September 15, Dr H. J. Thacker gays that he had been attending the hospitals in that city for some time, and would be so engaged for another week. After doing the hospitals in Belfast he would go over to Glasgow, then to Edinburgh, and finally to London, leaving England about the end of October for Neiv York. Dr Thacker's intention is to visit some of the (hospitals in a number of the larger cities in the eastern States, after which (ho will go .overland to San Francisco, awd expects to be back, in Christelnrroh about the new year. The Rev T. K. Ewen, Dr Ivorth and Captain Collins arrived from Wellington by the s.s. Rotomahana yesterday morning. Mr W. F. J. Anderson, secretary of the Hawke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society, has aecepijsd the appointment of manager of the Gisborne branch of Messrs Murray, Roberts and Company. Mr G. H. Blackwell left for Wellington last evening. Mr G. H. Whitcombe returned to Christchurch yesterday from his visit to England. Mr D. D. Hyde. Government Poultry Ex : pert, left for Wellington by the s.s. Botomahana last night. Mr D. M'Caskill, of Winchester, returned home yesterday, after spending six months in Englaoid. Mr Alfred Hollins, the composer and organist of St Georges, Edinburgh, will arrive in Christehurch by the Monowai today. While in Christehurch Mr Hollins will be the guest of Mr T. F. Faulkner.
