Mr A. R. Muir, proprietor of the “Poverty Bay Herald,” arrived in town yesterday to attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Press Association.

Colonel Porter arrived yesterday morning, and was in attendance at the local Defence Office.

Mr Graham, M.H.R., has been re-elected chairman of the Nelson Harbour Board, unopposed. Mr H. B. Kirk, Mr C. Studholme and Mr W. H. Maitland were passengers for the south by the express train yesterday morning. He will be a member of the deputation to wait on the Methodist Conference to-day in reference to the union of the churches.

Mr J. E. Henrys, the well-known handicapper, arrived from the south by last night’s express train, and went on to Wellington by the Rotomahana. Mr George Gardner, president of the Cheviot branch cf the Farmers’ Union, has placed his resignation in the hands of the secretary.
