THEATRE ROYAL.

TO TUB EDITOR. Sir, —Seeing that a new theatre in Christchurch is yet only imagination, I would like to suggest to the proprietors of tho present ono that circulating fans, such as are used on board ship, be utilised to circulate the air and keep the atmosphere down to a bearable point. Last night, at “ The Chinese Honeymoon,” ouo could hardly breathe, and the temperature of the place gave one the wish to he able to “sit in their! bones.” Now, all this could be prevented by one or two electric fjuis, as above stated, and with tho lighting plant already installed, the expense*: ought to be little. There is also another improvement needed, and that is the lighting. The present old-fashioned burners are no better than candles, and I would suggest that cither incandescent gas lights bo substituted, or else that patrons be supplied with lanterns to read their programmes by. Hoping something will be. done to minimise our discomfiture when witnessing a good thing,—l am, etc.,, THEATRE GOER.
