[Pish, Piujss Association*.] AUCKLAND, Dec. 10. A little girl named Elizabeth Callagher died as the result of a tub of cold water falling on her. A verdict of "Accidental death*" was returned. Previously it was incorrectly reported that the child had been scalded. MASTERTON, Dec. 10. Mr. Wyeth, a very old resident, ninety years of age, narrowly escaped suffocation last evening owing to the room occupied by him catching fire. Hi.s voice was too feeble to call for assistance. He was considerably burnt about the extremities, and sustained a serious shock. His predicament was only aecidently discovered. Mr J. Lynch, of Waikari, was admitted to.the Chrii'ichurch Hospital yesterday, suffering from a severe attack of lock-jaw, brought on by a wound, caused by a piece of wood, and'sustained a fortnight ago. Early yesterday .morning at Akaroa the traction engine which ha.s been employed in shifting a 'building broke down a deep .'culvert, getting-embedded in the hole, and, 'unfortunately, one of the men employed, named Henry Galbraith, 'was jammed against the bank. He was got out as soon as possible, and Dr -Hargrea.vcs was quickly in attendance. The sufferer was-removed to the. hospital, where every attention was paid to him. The extent of his injuries could not "be ascertained last night. No bones were broken, but it.was feared ho had received internal injuries.
