ORGAN RECITAL.

The experiment of giving an organ recital on a Saturday afternoon, for the benefit of country residents, and tjiose who cannot attend at night, was attended with marked success. The Cathedral was* crowded by a large and appreciative audience, who were even standing thick in the aisles, whilst many who were unable to even win admission were obliged, to go “ empty away.” ,Dr Bradshaw played an excellent varied programme in his now familiar style, his wonderful quality of expressiveness and his delicate touch being markedly in evidence. His numbers were Handel’s concerto in D minor, Beethoven’s Larghetto from the symphony in D major, Widor’s Pastorale from an Organ Symphony, Mendelssohn’s Organ Sonata in F minor, Sphor’s adagio from the Quartet in, G minor, and Best's Fantasia in F major. It would be difficult to discriminate among these selections, and only individual taste could be looked to for a counsel of excellence, hut perhaps the Adagio by Spohr, and Mendelssohn’s F minor Sonata were the most popular. The next recital will ho given on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m.
