MARKET REPORTS.

INVERCARGILL. [Per Press Association.! INVERCARGILL, June 30. For the reason that no oats are offering, r' the market is quiet, though 2s 3d to 2s 4d '. is nominally the price. The grain that is ' now travelling over the railways is grain already bought. Nearly all the growers who have threshed have sold, and others , will not thresh until spring. The export •market is very quiet, no War Office husiness being done, and there being no enquiries from the other side. At the Bluff, i this week, the rejects have been heavier than usual, which shows the samples 'to be poor. The wheat market ■■'tis equally • inactive, and one sale • of a line of prime velvet, at 4s 2d ■at the mill, is the only transaction report- ■ ed during the week. Chaff is unchanged. ■ The opinion that it will be good property In-the spring is questioned, as many farmers have kept their damaged stuff hack for chaff. Potatoes are quoted at 80s, but ■ merchants are purchasing from ss. to 7s 6d per ton below this. Good stocks are held. ;; Onions are held in large stocks here, and ' sales are dull. Flour is quoted at £ll 10s to £l2 10s, pollard £5 10s, bran £3 10s. ■ The grain haulage over the Southland section of the railways last week was 46,142 * ■ *acks, as against 33,922 sacks in the corresponding week last year, making a total 0f.626,192 sacks for the season, as against 488,865 for the same period last year. These figures refer to ordinary sacks, and ..not the small hags, as shipped to Africa.
