• NEW ZEALAND CASUALTIES. THE SEVENTH CONTINGIE>NT. [Per Peess Association.] WELLINGTON, June 23. _ The Governor has been advised that Private William- Whetter, of Wailkouaiti, died of dysentery at Klerksdorp, on June '2O, and that Private P. Monk, of Kaikoura, was dangerously ill of enteric at Newcastle on June 13. A number of members of the Seventh Contingent, on the troopship Manilla, due in Wellington to-morrow, are suffering from influenza. DUNEDIN, June 23. Trooper W. Whetter (Eighth Contingent), of Waikouaiti, succumbed at Klerksdor.p, on June 20, to injuries sustained in the Mochavie railway disaster on April 12. .On Tuesday evening last a ■ welcome " social" to returned troopers was given in the hall at Tuahiwi Pa. The guests were Sergeant Mehrtens, Troopers Blathwayt, Cassidy and Payne. Farrier-Sergeant Boss and Troopers Mehrtens _ and Quill were unable to accept their invitations. A very enjoyable evening was spent.
