Drunkenness—Two first offenders were each fined 5s for being drunk on, Dee. 27.—Leonaid Craig, who had' been drunk in Cathedral Square on the same date, was also fined ss.—Sarah Condon, for being drunk in Barbadoes Street on Dec. 27, was fined 10s, with the usual alternative.

Theft from Employer.—Henry Grantham was charged that between Oct. 1 and Oct. 22 he stole 12s lid belonging to his employer, Harry/ Roberts. Accused' was convicted and sentenced to three months' imprisonment with 'hard labour. Bicycle Stealing. Hapua Teahunga, charged! with' stealing a bicycle- valued at £l4 10s, the property of Charles Bell and another, on Dec. 12, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. On a charge'* of stealing, on Dec. 11, a spanner, and two bicycle pumps, valued at 6s 6d, the property of J. T. Brice, the same accused was sentenced 1 to three months' imprisonment, the terms of the two charges to run concurrently. Theft of Bags.—Thomas Mulligan, who had pleaded guilty to charges of theft, was brought up for sentence. There were three charges against accused, all of thefts committed on Nov. 4, viz., a Gladstone bag and its contents from Warner's Hotel, valued at £3, the property of T. A. Fraser; a Gladstone bag and contents, valued at £ls, the property of J. R. Patterson ; and a leather bag, valued at £3 16s, tire property of Detective Casselk. Accused was sentenced to six months' imprisonment on each' charge, the sentences to run concurrently. .

Drunkenness— John McKay, who had been guilty of disorderly conduct at the railway station while drunk, was fined 20s, with fourteen days' imprisonment in default.—Francis Frederick Dobie, who was suffering from 'the effects of drink, and who admitted having taken a large quantity of sulphur, was ratianded for medical treatment to Jan. 3.
