OBITUARY.
HON J. KERR. [Peis Press Association.] WESTPORT, August 25. The Hon Jas, Kerr, who suffered from a severe attack of bronchial asthma, while on lids way to Greymouth on Tuesday last, andl was detained at Westport, passed away at the residence of Mrs Hughes at 4.20 this morning. Mrs Kerr and Mr Jas. Kerr, son of the deceased, were present at the time death took place. Deceased was unconscious for several hours before the end came. He was a pioneer of the West Coast, founder of the “ Kumara Times,” part proprietor of the “ Grey River Argus,” and a prominent figure in local politics, heing at various periods member and chairman of the Westland Education Board, Greymouth Harbour Board, and member of the Borough Council.
