ENTERTAINMENTS.
A very successful gathering was held at Warner’s Hotel, on Friday evening, when the staff ol the local branch of the Citizens T.n’fj. Assurance Company was entertained by tha chief superintendent, Mr R. Bt CJlaip M’Kenzie, on the eve of that gentlemarriage. Tlw annual bfttobeloßs’ ball was beld in the schoolroom, Mothven, on Friday night, and was well attended!. The music was ■applied by a company from Ashburton* the duties of M.O. were efficiently carried out by Mr J. Trumpor. Tbo Gust -Mounted Rifles’ ball came off ait the Town Hall, East Oxford, on. Thursday. The haH decortataoca were designed and) carried out under the ouperizdendanoe of SergeantMajor Hunter, and consisted of ferns, pahnii «nd evergreens, interspersed with ferns and military arms. There were about SfiO present, and dancing was kept up till the small hoars to music supplied by Messrs !Wlßs nod Fleming.
