Marsdem No. 1 dredge is <about -completed, and will.'have a: trial run on Monday or, Tuesday. Marsden No. 3 is being delayed through several pieces £3 machinery iaving gone astray. . Cornwall (alias Foley's Cxeek) pontoon has been launched on ths new claim. There are two men at work, but erection is proceeding very slowly,.presumably-waiting the taking up •of additional shares. Leviathan 'is expected to give an improved return this week. New River is doing do good. The Maori Queen .return will l be about the earn© as last week. The ground- is very tight. The dredge, so far, has only worked a •IMo over, an acre of ground, from which it got over 200 oz of gold, showing that it is the dredge and not- the ground! that is responsible for the poor returns. The Kohinoor Extended Company has resolved to go into liquidation. Greenstone Creek dredge is' : stopped for want of necessary .•articles of machinery. It will teefc another part of the claim when it again starts. Greenstone Junction shows a slight improvement. Grey River has been stopped two or three times during the week. The return will be small.

Last week's average of Ro!d per dredge was 16ioa. This week it should be better.
