LAND BOARD.

A meeting of tho Canterbury Land Board was held on Yedbesdiay; jwesont—Messrs S. Weetman (Commissioner of Crown Lands), A. 0. Pringle and . J. Sealy. The applications of Frank William Webb, forlease-in-perpetuity over Section 31, Tamai, 2 roods, and that of James Dothie Milton, for a cash tenure "of Block.Hl., Mairaki, 50 acres, were granted. An application for exchange" from perpetual lease to leaee-in-perpetuity from John Bolger, 15, Reserve 158 and 2016, Block II.; Waitohi, 45 acres, was also granted. It. was decided to. approve of the issue of title in the following cases:—Cash purchase, Rural. Section 36609, Blcck VII., Alford survey district, Jabez Ellen; perpetual lease, Rural Section 35811, Met'hvf n, James M'Crenor; and perpetual lease, Rural Sec- • tion 36235, Hunter's Hills, Charles Jackson. A number of applications for transfer of leases and licenses were dealt with. On the Crown Ranger's report it was decided to grant a yearly tenancy of the airea of 85£ acres, Rural Sections, 23592, 27208 and' 30945, Waiikari Riive.r, to Messrs <J. A. and R. Bailie, at a restal of £4- 10s per annum. The Board decided to .re-offer .•forfeited-Lot 11, Tamai Hamlet, as soon as possible. Regarding certain holdings in Pareora Settlement No. 2, it was decided to require D. Murphy to at enco- sow down in grass the balance of half of his section, and! to allow G. E. Hunt tee month's extension of time to complete his house and reside. The applications of W.-' and J. Woods and William Friar for renewals of 'licenses to split timber in Oxford Bush w«re granted. The question of appointment of new trustees for Lots 24 and 25, Rabbit Island Village Settlement, was deferred. It was decided to offer Mr H. J. Harrison, as sub-lessee in occupation, a yearly tenancy of Reserve 1667 and buildings, South Rakaia township, at £22 10s per annum. Correspondence was read, from adjoining Crown leaseholders at Rim No. 191, Ashburton Forks, as to obtaining leases of. -extended holdings by the proposed exchange of Rnn 2so. 191 for other adjacent freehold lands, and it was
