Tho latter amounted to £4,855,000. The deficinecy will be covered by Treasury bills with ten years' currency. No action will be taken regarding tho imposition of income tax until after the Federal tariff has been passed. There will be no further taxation 'at present, except to increase the stamp duty on receipts to a penny on sums of from 10s up to a pound and twopence above that. The revenue next year is estimated at £3,908,000 and the expenditure at £3,887,000.
