• < [Peb Pkess Association.] NELSON, June 26, ' A sitting'of the Supreme Court was held to-day; before the Chief Justice.' The only criminal case was that of Charles Watson, ijriio.'was brought up foy sentence on a charge of indecently, .assaulting his own daughter, to which he had pleaded guilty in the lower Court. He was sentenced to two years' imprisonment. Decrees nisi were l granted in the divorce cases Beamsley v. Beamsley and Jewett ,v. Jewett, both on the. husbands' on, the grounds of desertion. There was no appearance of the respondent'in either case.' In his address to the Grand Jury his Honor made a few remarks on the jury system, defending it from the recent'.attacks made, upon ;t,r'and"he," expressed ''dissent from those who advocated the' abolition of either grand' or common juries.
