Mr Justice Cooper was a passenger from the south yesterday by, the express. Miss J. McKellar, 8.A., of Dunedin, has been appointed assistant mistress at the Wanganui Girls’ College. The Eev W. M’Cuilly and. Lieutenant Thorp, R.N., arrived from Wellington by the e.s. Tarawera yesterday morning. Mr W. H. Prioe, late sub-manager for the Union Steamship Company at Lyttelton, who has been promoted to the position of traffic manager at Wellington, is to leave for that city to-day. At a meeting of the employees at the Petone * Railway Workshops a resolution was carried expressing gratification at the conferment of a knighthood on Sir Joseph Ward.
