ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

A man named Skinner and his wife and child were found in an unconscious condition from coka fumes from a bucket in their bedroom. The wife and child died. [Pee Peess Association.] DUNEDIN, June 25. As tho 10.20 o’clock train from Dunedin to Mosgiel was drawing up to the platform at the Abbotsford station last night, Hairy Parnell, an elderly man, fell under one of the carriage wheels and received fatal injuries. Deceased was formerly a baker at Abbotsford. On Saturday evening Mrs T. Roebuck, an elderly widow lady residing in Victoria Street, Rangiora," slipped down in the passage of her house, and broke one of her thighs near the hip joint. The serious nature of the injury was not detected until Monday night, and the limb was not set until yesterday. The Lady’s only son, Trooper T. Roebuck, is with the Seventh Contingent in South Africa. One of the troopers of the Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry had a fall from, his horse yesterday morning, and was rather badly bruised. He was taken to tihe hospital, but only remained there for a short time. . As tho north train last evening was leaving Chaney’s Corner on the way to Kaiapoi, a farmer named Hugh M’Kibbon, of. the Gust,. .district, was seen to have fallen off one of the carnage platforms, dear of the permanent way. The train was an exceptionally , heavy one, and had not full way on when the accident occurred, but it had proceeded a good distance before it could be brought to .a stand. Two or three friends of Mr M’Kibbon volunteered to go back to look after him.. ' A young man named Thomas Murray, residing at Riccarton, was emptying a cask into a copper boiler yesterday morning, when the cask overbalanced and, fdl into the boiler, catching his left hand between the hoop and the boiler rim, and cutting off two fingers. He Was- taken to the Christchurch Hospital, where his injuries were attended to.
