United Press Association—By Elcctrio Telegraph—'Copyright. INFLUENZA. SYDNEY, June 24. News from the islands states that influenza is prevalent among the natives of the Solomons and adjacent groups, causing high mortality. SUICIDE. {Received. June 24, 10.45 p.m.) Dr Thomas Henry O'Reilly, aged thirtyseven, until recently practising at Huntly, New Zealand, committed suicide by puncturing the femoral artery with a safetypin. A few weeks ago he come to Sydney for the benefit of his health, and on Saturday was caught attempting to shoot himself. At his own. request, he was placed in a cell under the observation of the police. Until an early hour this morn 1 jig bo chatted with his watchei's. Later he was supposed to be sleeping, but was discovered dead. The wound was inflicted under cover of the blankets. ARRESTED. James Andrew Gorrie, a passenger iby the Mariposa, has been arrested on a charge of the larceny as a bailee of £35, the property of George Lusk, Auckland.
