BAD LANGUAGE AT FOOTBALL MATCHES.
, TO THE EDITOR. Sir,--I wish with your kind permission to draw attention to the very bad language continually indulged ip by a number of persons (chiefly young men) who attend the football matches played on Lancaster Park from time to time, and which is most offensive to the eara of those persons who patronise the game, and who have respect for the welfare of the young of this community. I have been a most consistent supporter and of this game for adarge 'years/-and have noticed that for some considerable time past the practice of indulging in bad, and, at times, most filthy language, is on. the increase, and I am convinced that unless steps are immediately taken, to prevent it, it will have anything but a beneficial influence on the young of our large and growing population. In ■watching the various games played on the three grounds on the Park, I usually move about among the crowds who throng* the terraces, and one cannot do this without being compelled to listen to the most objectionable language.—l am, etc., SPECTATOR.
