THEATRE ROYAL.

The Theatre Royal was well .filled last night, when Messrs Cooper and Macdermott presented a number of bioscope and limelight pictures. The chief interest naturally centred in the moving pictures referring to the Duke and Duchess, the best, of these being a view of the laying of a foundation stone at Ballarat. A better view of the Duke will hardly be obtained by more than the fortunate few to-day. Among the other pictures may be mentioned a view of the Ophir leaving Portsmouth, and the landing at Fit Kilda pier. The first part of the programme was made up of pictures deal.ng with the late Queen and thei present King Two fine pictures of Wind;.or Castle were shown —one taken from a train and the other fi-om a ferry steamer, and the Prince of Wales and Duke of York were seen entering carriages at Trinity Pier. The life of the late Queen was traced and well illustrated. Numerous pictures of recent athletic events were; also presented, the best perhaps being a representation' of the Oxford and Cambridge boat race. Some humourous pictures were greatly appreciated by tLe audience, as were several excellent musical selections upon the colossoplione. On Sunday evening, after church, a lecture will be given on “ The Story, of the Cross and Its, bearing on the Late War.” illustrated with moving pictures and limelight views.
