QUEENSLAND KANAKA LABOUR.

TO THE EDI COB. Sir, —That this question menaces the welfare of United Australia and her labour problems none dare deny. Who is responsible? Those capitalists who run the sugar industries shake the whole Commonwealth in their endeavours to serve self by cheap labour, at the risk of raising racial grievances. The Queensland Labour Party show no wish to injure the sugar industry. They openly and consistently wise to serve labour’s cause, knowing that, even' in that climate, the industry can be| served by white labour at a profit. Queensland, like New Zealand, is approaching the- colder zone. They Jaoth have frosts that were unknown a few years back. Both harvests are later. To say that it is impossible to run that industry by white labour shows a motive that compels labour to look beneath for a solution. The Queensland Labour Party are justified- in their demands, and no Royal Commission will bridge the gulf.—l am, etc., W. H. DACOMBE.
