TO THE EDITOR. t Sir, —In your issue of June 15, in a lettei signed Geo. Barty, containing the following: "How many mechanics and direct producers of wealth get £5 a week and a free railway pass?' 1 On June 14 I attended a country market, when the following comments came under my notice, and as they show how much some at least of the producers are getting, I give them to youT readers for what they are worth:-—One hard-working farmer told me himself' that he would come out this year with a loss of £3OO. On the side of the next pen sat two farmers, both freeholders, and workers at that, and 'both declared that they were not one sixpence better off during the last three years.—l am > e t c -> OBSERVER.
