• The Chriabdhurch 'Homing Pigeon Society flew off -a race from "Waimate last Saturday. The birds were liberated ait intervals of ten minutes. Eleven owners competed. Owing to the strong ihead wind the veTooitites were low. The winner, iMr "Wilson's Waimate, flew the distance, 118 miles 1636 yards, in 4hrs 2min- The following were the velocities made: — 1?. "Wilson's Waimate, 849yds 'per minute; A. €iew«nfc's Good Mealy, 828yds; G-. Perrot's Redwood, Bffllyds; F. TJn-win's Seacliffe, 783 yd-s; F. Bubterfield's Jaok Tar, 768yds; W. Sinton's Topsail, 730yds; (B. Smith's Dandy, 717yds; A. Andferson a Defiance, 633yds; F. Kingsford's 'Da»h, 537yds. Birds were bjlso flown by (F. (Bull and C. Cooper.
