At the half-yearly meeting of the Kauri Timber Company, the chairman congratulate'd shareholders on the satisfactory position 'of the company and the increasing demand for timber. There was a creditsurplus of £2.3,550, against, a.total credit of £42,000 in the previous Jiune. The company would lose nothing by the defalcations of the late managing director at Auckland. The whole of the embezzled money had been recovered. The amount involved in connection with 'the committal for trial of one of the company's Melbourne officers would not exceed £I3OO. Beyond these two, unfortunate incidents affairs were in every way satisfactory. It was not intended to declare an interim dividend, as it was necessary to. pay interest and sinking fund on July 1.
