Hotel Cecil, 250 persons were present, including the Agents -General. General Duller received an immense ovation. He stated that recent events showed that Great Britain possessed a number of very strong, lusty, wdl-matured' children-, prepared to help in every difficulty in which they thought her right, by sending fine men, fine soldiers, gallant fellows. ‘ Imperial unity was a dangerous idea, unless backed up solidly. Sir J. Cockburn, South Australia, suggested that an emblem' should be added to the Union Jack specially- appealing to colonists reminding them of the part borne in sending contingents. ! Lord Strathoona, the Chairman, advocated the enrolment of colonial volunteer corps in London.
