COUNCIL AND DRAINAGE BOARD.

LINCOLN ROAD DRAINAGE

At last night’s meeting of the Sydenham Borough Council a letter .was read from the Drainage Board stating, in answer to the Council’s letter drawing attention to the insufficiency of the inlet for flood-water at the head of the Lincoln Road stormwater sewer, that a culvert would ba constructed across Park Road as soon as practicable, to take the excess of water down the South Belt to Selwyn Street, and thence to the new sewer. Councillor Jones said the Drainage Board had put in a drain totally inadequate for the purpose for which it was intended. The drain was a bricked-in sewer down to Selwyn Street, and thence a nineinch pipe to Park Road. It was not right that the Council should , suffer for the Board’s negligence and false economy. Councillor Sim then moved that the letter should be received, and that the Council should protest against i the diversion of storm-water from Lincoln Road ‘into 1 the side channels on the south side of the South Belt. This was • carried unanimously.
