CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING-. Play in connection -with the Canterbury Championship Meoting was commenced on Saturday afternoon. A heavy shower fell at" two o'clock, and consequently play was postponed until hall-past three. The rain did not • materially afreet tho Courts, which by four o'clock were in excellent order. Tho .attendance wa3 small, ' vnth tho exception of ten or twelve-all present Tbeing players.
