EAST CHRISTCHURCH AMATEUR SWIMMING- CLUB. -ANNUAL CARNIVAL. : The eleventh annual carnival cf the East Christchurch Amateur Swimming Club was held at the baths.of the East Christchurch Pub'.-io School on Saturday afternoon. ' Among the events was-the fourth and final distance 'rn the School. Boys' Chair-'pionship, of 100yds. The following were the officers: —President, Mr E. AV. Roper; vice-presidents, Messrs AV. AV. Donaldson; and the secretaries of. the various clubs acted as the marksmen. . Rain fell' heavily at -the start, but this did not prevent a, large attendance of the public, many ladies being present. Afterwards the sun came out, and the weather was pleasant. Improvements have been made at the baths, and. they new seem to be in a, verv good condition. An increased water supply has been- provided, new overflows have been put in, the paths on the side o£ '■the bath have been freshly asphalted, a new and improved shower-bath has been erected and the floor of the bath has been newly cemented.
