At the Socialist Church meeting to he held in Miss Grafton’s Refreshment Rooms, Gloucester Street, on Monday night, the subject for consideration wiU be a paper by one of the members, entitled, “ The Land Ques-» tion.” All interested are invited to attend. The Garrison Band, under the conductorship of Mr A. J. Merton, will give an openair concert in the Drillshed Grounds on Wednesday night next. For some time past the Garrison Band has had under rehearsal a capital programme. The anual swimming races of the East Christchurch Amateur Swimming Club will be held at the baths at 2.30 p.m. to-day. A sale of work in connection with the Riccarton Branch of the Girls’ Friendly Society will be held in the Parsonage Ground of St Peter’s Church at 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Woolston Brass Band will accompany the 2.5 tram to Sumner to-morrow. The nineteenth annual meeting of the Canterbury Caledonian Society will, he held at the rooms, Hereford Street, at 8 p.m. on Feb. 27. The annual conversazione in connection with the School of Domestic Instruction will bo held in the Art Gallery at 8 p.m. on Feb. 20. A special meeting of the Licensed Victuallers of Canterbury will be held at Hobbs’s Buildings at 3 p.m. on Monday, to consider the police appeal against the decision of Mr R. Beethnin, S.M., in the re- . cent New Brighton case.
