THE SOUTH BELT SCHOOL.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Kindly allow me to correct an error in your local of If eh. 7 in reference to tb e South Belt School. The deputation from the East Christchurch School Committee, that waited twice upon the Education Board did not ask to have the school re-opened; they asked Lie Board to open, one room for the benefit of in that part of the district. The Board a.sked for data as to how many children would go if such were done; the deputation supplied the information asked for, which was ninety-five children of five years and over not yet in any standard. It is true that the Board closed the school and dismissed the teachers, but it was done without consulting the committee, which was against the spirit of the Education Act.—l am, etc., D. LUMSDEN.
