The annual picnic of the city and suburban grocers was bejel yesterday, on the estate of'Mr I’. H. Rhodes, M.H.R., at Tapu. Thirteen drags and a number of private vehicles, conveying the picnickers, left Cathedral Square shortly after nine tt’clock. ” The plumbers of Christchurch, with their families and friends, held their annual picnic at Governor’s Bay yesterday. They went to Lyttelton, accompanied by the ,Stannic-re Band, by the 8.55 a.in. tram, and were taken to the Bay by the launches Canter-, bury and WaLwera. The party numbered altogether about 150 persons. ■ iA picnic, given by the members of the Lyttelton Young Men’s Club to the ladies .who assisted at the recent bazaar in aid of the drib’s Building Fund, took place yesterday. The s.s. Cyziifb convoyed the picnickers to Rhodes’s Bay, making two trips, one in, the morning, and' another in the- afternoon. The Lyttelton Brass Band was with the party, and a very pleasant day was spent.
